TRAVEL DIARY

A large map of Canada was pasted onto a bulletin board in my classroom. Each child brought in from home, the name of one or two places that they have visited in Canada. Each place was located on the map and marked with a miniature Canadian flag glued onto a push pin. Children's names were written on the flag so that everyone could see where different children had traveled. Some of the children brought in photos of the places they had traveled to . When visitors came into the classroom, they were asked to place a flag somewhere they had traveled. Canadian singer and songwriter Michael Mitchell, performed in our school during our "Canada" theme in November. He kindly visited the children in our classrooms and was more than happy to share one of his favorite places that he traveled in Canada- Baffin Island near the North Pole! Not many of us have ventured there!
